ABOUT

RUNONHEART PERSONAL TRAINING Fitness and nutrition

Runonheart Personal Training a Private Fitness Studio

Runonheart Personal Training was born out of a sincere desire to make a positive difference in the world.

I train one-on-one and with couples online and in my studio in Mount Pleasant, Wisconsin. My service is by appointment only.  My sessions are booked in 90-minute blocks.   I find that this allows enough time to talk and do corrective stretching and exercise whether online or in the studio.  I do not like to crowd my clients.  I tend to take a wholistic approach.

In our post-covid era I tend to keep up with keeping things clean and sanitized.  If nothing else, it is no fun to get a cold.  Masking is totally up to your own preference and I am happy to mask if that is your preference.  During flu season I will mask if it looks like something is going around, I don't really want the down time.

-first the free consultation. this can be done online if need be.

-Next a fitness assessment.  This includes postural, flexibility, strength and balance and as well a detailed discussion about your diet and lifestyle and health history. This also can be done online if need be.

-Next is setting up our sessions
.

-Clients who work with a personal trainer have the benefit of a more active presence. As part of my service, I work with you on your nutrition and flexibility.  For those who train with me, nutrition guidance is an included free perk.

Over the years I have worked with competitive marching bands in the summer months, and other groups utilizing functional training techniques.  The ultimate goal: to improve core, balance, stability, flexibility, strength, and endurance.

Meet Michele the Trainer:

I am a woman who struggled most of her life with weight and body image issues. As a child of Italian descent, I was raised traditionally in a family whose relatives were charter members of the "clean plate club."  As you might imagine, this created in me from a very early time in my life, a battle with food and exercise.  As a youth my parents put me on many a diet, even Dr. Stillman at the age of 12.

As a teen in the 70's I became anorexic and was hospitalized for it.  Back then little was understood about how to deal with it...or even really what it was.  Doctors at the time decided that the cure was to teach people how to eat.  As we now know, disordered eating was the symptom and not the cause.  Over the years up to when I was about 38 years old, I went up and down the scale.   I am a lifelong runner; but that didn't even help.

At the age of 38 I woke up.  I realized that there HAD to be a better way.  I decided at the time that I was not going to go into my 40's with two young children.to whom I had to be an example looking and feeling the way I did.

So, what did I do?

I worked out HARD for a solid year and did NOT see much result I worked on every machine in the club.  I took all the classes and lost a total of 10 pounds.  It was disheartening.

Then one day I'd had enough-yet again.  There was a personal trainer at the club, and I sat down with him. We talked and talked, and I listened, REALLY listened, because the switch had FINALLY gone on.  I needed to change everything from the inside out.  I had to look at my eating differently.  I had to understand cardio and its role, and I had to change my relationship with food.

I hired a personal trainer and got an education.  More importantly, I listened, absorbed and adapted everything he said to me.  His name was Mark, and I am ever grateful- for the rest of my life- for his guidance.  From that point on I was able to achieve steady and permanent weight loss.

It was because of this experience that I decided to become a personal trainer when my children went off to school.  I wanted to make a positive difference in the lives of all the people that I could in the time that I have in this body, in this life. I want to teach what I have learned to as many people as possible.

I have since gone on to run 12 marathons, an ultra and countless 5k and 10k races and half marathons.  One of my passions is to train folks for these events.

Additionally, in the last 17 years I have developed another true passion; helping teens who perform in school functions that are athletically underserved by the school system.  Thus, I have developed program which focuses not only on the physical development of the young person, but their emotional development as well.

I am blessed to be able to help to change lives for the better-permanently.

Here is what I know:

If you can conceive it, if you can believe it, YOU CAN BE IT.
